Visit the 1890 Village in Bull Shoals, Arkansas

Located in the serene, natural surroundings of the Bull Shoals Lake and White river Region is the quaint and historic attraction known as the "1890 Village."

Brief Description of the 1890 Village

The "1890 Village" is a re-created early Ozark colony complete with over 10 historic original buildings, actual livestock, an authentic old moonshine still, and a saw mill.

The buildings are authentic and use to be in other parts of the state. They were all moved to the "1890 Village" and contain much of their original furnishings.

The historic buildings within the "1890 Village" include but are not limited to; the 1888 "non-Denominational Church", 1874 "Lynch - Flippin House", 1878 "Blacksmith and Coffin Shop", "Jordon house", "Hot Box Jail Cell", "Uncle Willie's Cabin", 1890 "School House", 1889 "General Store", 1881 "Wooden Bank", 1830 "Martin House" and the 1903 "Missouri Pacific Depot."

Highlights of the buildings include the 1830 "Martin House" and the 1881 "Wooden Bank."

Fashioned in 2 story dog trot style, the "1890 Village's Martin House" is one of the oldest residences in the Ozark region. It is also reputedly once the overnight accommodations of President Hoover.

During his three week stay in 1893, Hoover was not yet President. At that time he was working as a land surveyor for the United States Land Office.

The 1881 "Wooden Bank" is the last remaining structure of its kind in all of Arkansas. It operated as a bank from 1881 until 1935 when orders came down from the government that all wooden banks had to be converted to stone banks due to fire safety concerns.

Hours of Operation and Admission Fees

The "1890 Village" is open from March 15^th through November with hours of operation varying by season.

As of 2010 the "1890 Village" is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm during the period of March 15^th until May 15^th.

From May 15^th until Labor Day hours of operation change to daily from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. As May through September is the peak visiting season, the "1890 Village" staff do occasionally extend cavern hours past 6:00 pm.

Labor Day through the end of November the "1890 Village" changes its hours of operation to Thursday through Monday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm

As of 2010 admission prices to the "1890 Village" were reduced due to ongoing renovations.

Normally admission to the "1890 Village" is $11.00 per adult and $6.00 per child between the ages of 6 through 11. Children ages 5 and under are admitted into the village for free. Admission prices listed are exclusive of all applicable taxes.

During renovations admission to the village has been dropped to $5.00 per person exclusive of all applicable taxes.

In addition to the village, there is an on-site cavern tour and a 19 hole championship miniature golf course.

Admission to the guided cavern tour is $11.00 per adult and $6.00 per child between the ages of 6 through 11. Tour prices are exclusive of tax. Children age 5 and under are admitted on the cavern tour for free.

Combination cavern and village tour tickets are available for $20.00 per person, plus all applicable taxes.

A round of golf will set adults back $4.00 plus tax each and $3.00 plus tax for each child.
