Universal Studios Hollywood Good but Not Great

Hollywood may be the entertainment capital of the world but Universal Studios Hollywood claims that it is the entertainment capital of LA. The park is located at 1000 Universal Center Drive, San Fernando Valley California. The park is not just a theme park but a real working studio as well. Being both a movie studio and a theme park means that there is something for everyone to see at Universals.

Universal Studios Hollywood has many shows as well as many attractions. One of the most popular of the attractions is a tour of the studio. The studio tour takes guests through a tour of the studio as well as taking guests through some attractions. The tour often makes changes to work around actual filming of shows or movies. A tram may stop for a time and then continue. A tram may also avoid an area or take an alternate route. On occasion trams may go by a live working set. The tram tour takes about 45 minutes making it the longest attraction and the main attraction. During the tour you will see many sets such as the Back to the Future set, and the Bates Motel. The tram takes you through many attractions as well including Earthquake with a simulated earthquake and the newest attraction King Kong 360 3D.

The tram ride may be the longest ride the park has but it is not the only one. One of the more recent rides to be added is the Simpson's ride which takes guests on a simulator type ride into the world of the Simpson's. Jurassic Park the Ride takes guests on a water adventure through the jungle setting of Jurassic Park but things take a turn for the worse and you end up being chased by dinosaur's and falling down a large flume to escape a T-Rex. Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride replaced the much loved E.T. ride but it did give guests a great indoor roller coaster.

Besides the rides Universal Studios Hollywood offers many shows as well. Waterworld: A Live Sea War Spectacular is a show with lots of action and stunts. Shrek 4-D is a short 3D movie in the world of Shrek. T2 3-D: Battle Across Time is another 3D which also features animatronics and actors interacting with the show.

To be honest growing up in LA Universal Studios Hollywood rarely changed much. You could go to Universals every few years instead of every year. While they have been better about updating many good rides actually are lost in the updates. Many of the former rides were better. I prefer Back to the Future or even the earlier Battle of Galatica to the Simpson's Ride. I also prefer the old King Kong to the new King Kong. If you have never been to Universal Studios Hollywood then it is worth going. If you have been before you may want to go but it depends how recently you have been. If you have been in the past few years I would wait to go until Transformers opens. Having so few rides means that unless they open a new ride there is not much point in going often. Universal Studios Hollywood is better then some nameless theme park but it is not one of the areas best theme parks.
