Boqueron Beach
The tiny village of Boqueron is a delight for tourists with plenty food stands, souvenir shops, open-air cantinas, and dive shops. Boqueron is situated on Boqueron Bay, which is home to about 50 species of birds protected by a nearby nature preserve. The beach is a glorious stretch of white sand that stretches more than a mile long. You'll also find a myriad of amenities and things to do such as picnic tables, cabin rentals, bike rentals, and even a basketball court. And of course there are the water sports like SCUBA diving and snorkeling.
Caja de Muertos Beach
Caja de Muertos Island is about a mile long and is uninhabited as a way to preserve the natural beauty of the many endangered species of plants and reptiles that inhabit the area. The weather is dry and is perfect almost year round. Visitors to this area are asked to only leave behind their footprints, as it is a preserved area where low-impact eco habits are encouraged. There are a ton of shallow coral reefs around this island that make it a favorite with snorkelers and scuba divers.
Cana Gorda Beach
Cana Gorda is a public beach located in a town called Guanica. This area has a lot of secluded beach areas, making it a favorite among hikers who want to explore and find their own quiet secluded area. There are also a plethora of tiny cays to be found in waters surrounding Cana Gorda Beach. Many of these cays are uninhabited and except by sea life and birds. The crystal clear waters in this area are shallow and are full of coral reefs, making it a favorite spot for snorkelers.
Crashboat Beach
Crashboat Beach is located near the town of Aguadilla and the sand has a gorgeous golden glow. The waters in this area are flat and choppy, so it's not the best place to swim, but it's great for parasailing, jet skiing, and diving. There are plenty of walking trails on this beach where you can explore the vegetation or gather a sack of sea shells. The beach is laid out well for tourists and includes boardwalks, restaurants, playgrounds, picnic areas with barbeque pits, showers and restrooms.
Flamenco Beach
Flamenco Beach is considered to be the crowning beach of Puerto Rico and was recently named one of the Best Beaches in America and Best Escape Beach by the Travel Channel. Flamenco boasts about a mile of pristine white sands and the area is protected by the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources as a Marine Wildlife Reserve. What does this mean to the tourist? It means this is a great beach to relax on because you can escape from the crowds, motor sport noises, & boat engine noises. Something to note, the waters in this area of Culebra are home to some of the most beautiful coral reef formations in the Caribbean.
Isla Verde Beach
Located near San Juan, this beach is a favorite with tourists because of its soft white sand, lots of shade trees, shopping, posh restaurants and night clubs. You can relax and soak up the sun, or be a little more adventurous and take part in one of the many water sports or beach activities offered up and down the beach such a jet skiing, body surfing, waterskiing, or volleyball.
Luquillo Beach
Luquillo Beach is one of the most visited beaches in Puerto Rico. It boasts natural beauty with golden sands, plentiful coconut palm trees, and picturesque mountains of the surrounding rainforests. The waters in this area are calm and tranquil and shallow, making it a safe place for families. The beach is lined with souvenir and food stalls, shopping areas, and small seaside restaurants.
Punta Santiago Beach
Punta Santiago Beach is located near Humacao and is a great beach to visit if you want to relax in the sun or explore on the many remote coves in the area. You'll find plenty of places to eat and shop, as well as the usual beach activities and water sports. There is also a small islet off the tip of the bay that is home to the Rhesus monkeys. It's not safe to walk around on the islet but there are boat rides available where you can watch the monkeys as they go about their daily lives.
Shacks Beach
Shacks Beach is one of the more popular beaches and is well known around the world as being a great spot to windsurf. It's also becoming a favorite for those who like to wave jump and kite surf. A lot of the hotels in the offer lessons and have equipment for rent.
Seven Seas Beach
This beach is located near the town of Fajardo and is popular with tourists who enjoy snorkeling and wind surfing. The offshore reefs help keep the waves down and the strong trade winds make it an ideal spot for snorkeling, windsurfing, and sailing. The shallow sea bottoms and abundance of tropical fish and coral formations make Seven Seas Beach a favorite place for snorkeling.
