Things to Do in New York City (The City that Never Sleeps)

So you're going to the Big Apple? The city that never sleeps. New York City is a fun place to be. It can and will be very exciting for your family, friends and most of all, you. There are so many things to do. There are so many attractions to see. There are a lot of fun and interesting people you will meet. To be honest with you, you made a good choice in places to go. You not only made a good choice, you made a great choice. You also have a special bonus; you're at the right place and no matter what time of the year it is, it's always the right time there.

If you are into sports, it's sports all year around. That's right all year around. Winter, spring summer and fall. What I like about the Big Apple is that you are always given a choice. When baseball season is in full swing, you can either attend a Mets game or a Yankees game. If you love basketball at the professional level, there are always available tickets for either the Knicks and the Nets. There are also professional football games with the Giants and the Jets. You might say, "Wait a minute. I thought the Nets, the Jets and the Giants play in New Jersey?" You're absolutely and positively correct. New Jersey is about ten minutes away from the city that never sleeps. Let me tell you a little secret being a native New Yorker. It is better to visit the Big Apple and stay in New Jersey. What do you mean, jelly bean? It's much more economical to book your hotel reservations in New Jersey. Also, the gas prices are much cheaper in New Jersey if you are driving. One other major thing that needs to be addressed: please bring a GPS. You're thank me later. Did I forget to mention hockey? The Rangers and the Islanders always have big turnouts. At holiday time, mainly Christmas time as well as Thanksgiving, there are college tournaments at Madison Square Garden.

There are always special activities at the Garden. To name just a few: dog show competitions, track and field, the circus, concert, special ministers preaching and much much more. The ticket prices are fairly reasonable and can be acquired via the Internet on line. All you have to do is contact Madison Square Garden by telephone or go on line for to see up coming events and attractions. Don't worry about a place to eat. You will find your choices of a variety of vendors and establishments. They also serve food/beverages inside the garden. If you don't feel like walking and getting out of your seat, don't worry. Accommodations will be provided for you right where you are sitting at.

In the business section of Manhattan, there are numerous individuals that range from doctors, lawyers, business men/women, professional people, and the average Joe who loves to play chess. That's right, chess. They play on the city streets at designated tables standing up with a stop clock. The player makes a move and presses the stop clock to stop his/her time which then starts the opponents' time. Each player must think quick and play smart. You have to bring your " a " game. It's fun, exciting and good to watch. You're learn a lot.

It's all different places to find when it comes to eating and dining out. The question is not only where do you want to eat? The main question is what do you want to eat? There is American food, Italian food, Chinese food, Japanese food, Greek food, Russian food, soul food, Spanish food, and the list goes on and on. My favorite is the white castle cheese burger and fish sandwich. They are very small so you must buy more than one.

There are so many attractions that it would take forever to lists all of this information in this article in things to do in new york city. At the radio city music hall located by Rockefeller Plaza, there are always shows and Broadway plays. Over there you'll always get your money worth. People come from near and far to attend these special shows and musicals. There are all types of museums that your family, friends and you can enjoy. One of my favorite is the museum of natural history. Don't worry about finding someone to take a group picture. There are always more than enough people around to handle this small task. There are places to go swimming. There are numerous parks to attend. A very well known park is called Central Park. It's huge. There's the zoo. The kids will love it. The are all types of boat rides. Two in particular are the Staten Island ferry and the Circle Liner. The first will take you to a place known as Staten Island the other will take you up north; The second boat ride is all day trip. They also serve food on the boat.

Another major attraction that is always shown around the world on television is Times Square. This attractions is where the New Year's Eve ball drops during the new year celebration. Times Square is always busy. You have to go there and see for yourself. There is a gigantic screen TV located at times square. So if you feel like watching something on the tube with thousands of people all around, so be it. The empire state building. It's one of the tallest buildings in the city. The Statute of Liberty; that's also a sight to see. If you're hotel is located in New Jersey, you will definitely the lady of liberty that represents freedom. The botanical gardens; it's beautiful and those that have a special interest as a green thumb will really appreciate this place. For those who like to keep track of their investments, the New York Stock Exchange is a place that you will have to visit.. You will see up close and personal stocks, bonds and shares bought, sold and traded.

You might ask, "how is a person suppose to get around in the city without a car?" That is a very good question and I am glad you ask. The big apple which is the city that never sleeps have what is called mass transit. The buses and subway system can take you every where. This mass transit system can transport thousands upon thousands of people across town in no time. They have people there that can assist you to where you need to go. They can also supply you with information as to when and how much it will cost. So whether you're in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, or Staten Island, mass transit can get you where you need to be and want to be. It will also bring you back.

As I said earlier, you've pick a good vacation spot to visit. I guarantee that you will have loads of fun and you'll keep coming back for more. It also slipped my mind about different places to shop for clothes, jewelry and foot wear. Delancey Street is one spot to get reasonable items. I must warn you of the big city life. Please don't buy anything from the average Joe blow that may walk up to you on the street. For one thing, the merchandise is probably stolen goods. In other words, it's hot. When it comes to jewelry, it's most likely stolen and/or fake. Everything that glitters is not gold. I'm just keeping it real. I just want to make your trip and visit enjoyable. So visit these wonderful attractions and attend some of the great events. You will truly be enriched and have knowledge first hand that this is the city that never sleeps.
