Restaurant Review: Miss Lyndonville Diner in Lyndonville, Vermont

Lyndonville, Vermont is a village that is part of the larger town of Lyndon Vermont. It is located in the area known as the Northern Kingdom. This is a very scenic area of Vermont and it is somewhere that we visit almost every year. We have stayed in Lyndonville on our way north to Canada but the main reason that we come to Lyndonville is to eat at the Miss Lyndonville Diner.

Lyndonville is located with easy access to interstate 91 and it is a great place to get off, stretch your legs and have a meal. In case you are wondering, Miss Lyndonville Diner is no secret. We have never stopped here at any time of the day and not had to wait to get a seat. Its busy at breakfast, lunch and when it is open for dinner as well. Locals, visitors and college students are here in abundance. It isn't because it is the only restaurant in town either, because it isn't. It is because the portions are generous, the service is efficient and the food is good.

We usually have either breakfast or lunch here when we are passing through. Like most diners their menu is huge, pages long. They have lots of egg choices, pancakes and French toast. One thing that makes breakfast special is that they bake their own breads so the toast and French toast are delicious. One of the breads they bake is a homemade cinnamon. They also serve biscuits and sausage gravy, oatmeal and hominy. There is just about anything you could possibly want for breakfast. I just love getting creamy scrambled eggs with crispy bacon and toast and jam. Add cup of coffee and we are ready to get back on the road to complete our trip. On our last stop I got an egg sandwich with home fries and my husband go fried eggs, bacon and home fries as our pictures show.

Their lunch menu is just as extensive. They have a particularly good patty melt with really good French fries. They have a really excellent selection of hamburgers. My husband likes the Vermonter, with Cheddar cheese. The burgers are served with fries with steak or French and coleslaw. They have lots of sandwiches, soups, and salads. If you can't find something to eat here, you are not really hungry.

Try to save room for dessert. They have great pie and I am partial to the strawberry shortcake myself. Be prepared to wait to get in here. Sometimes when we arrive at lunch, the line is out the door. The interior is not very large, there are some tables and some booths. The waitresses are friendly and take good care of you. They are used to moving people in and out so that you don't lose a lot of time by stopping here.

If you are traveling through the Northern Kingdom of Vermont, get off for a short stop in Lyndonville, you will be glad you did.
