October seems to be the spookiest of the months but some of these haunted houses tours start in September and go through December; the Nightmare on the Bayou is open only the months of September and October.
The origin of the name Halloween is dated way back in the 16th century and it comes from the Scottish version "All Hallows Eve", because it comes the night before "All Hallows Day" or most commonly known as "All Saints Day".
Getting back to the haunted house and their 15,000 square feet of ghosts; and their scheduled tours which happen between Thursday and Sunday starting at 7:30 p.m. and will Halloween's eve be the scariest? I dare you to try if you are brave enough but remember that you are warned! The prices for the tour are $30 but you can check out some deals such as on Thursday firemen, policemen and military get $10 off the price, big groups (great to hold on to your neighbor when inside) get a discount, or for $10 extra dollars you get VIP tickets which means no waiting in line, one important fact is to note is that they only accept cash, so come prepared even though they do have ATM, paying that extra fee is a hassle.
There are important facts to remember when entering, any child that is less than ten years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Also the attire to wear is casual so the best could be khaki pants, jeans or even sweats and as far as shoes go probably anything that you can run in...those ghosts are not always very friendly, after all you are in their home. On a more serious note it is suggested that if you are pregnant, have an unhealthy heart or suffer from asthma to restrain from entering the Nightmare on the Bayou, since they use fog machines.
Are you brave enough to enter? For more information go to their website, check out their Facebook page or call 713-868-3344.
