One of the best ways to spend a fall afternoon in Central New York is to visit one of the numerous farmers markets that can be found in the area. These lovely little establishments, most of which are family-owned and operated, are an excellent source of every kind of fresh produce you can imagine, from apples to pumpkins, and everything in between. A visit to one of these places is not only a great way to spend an brisk autumn afternoon but is also an excellent and effective way to support local businesses and ensure that local farms continue to produce and supply us with delicious and healthy food and other products.


Beak and Skiff Apple Farms



Beak and Skiff Apple Farms, located near the charming town of Lafayette, New York, is the perfect place to visit if you want to obtain some of the fine and delicious apples that are grown in Central New York. They offer numerous opportunities to pick your own apples, usually during the month of October; varieties on offer include Golden Delicious, Idared, Cortland, and numerous others. In addition to apples, they also offer a number of baked goods, jams, and jellies, along with delicious beverages (such as wine and vodka) made from their delicious apples. This lovely farmers market, located just outside the city of Oswego, New York, is an ideal place to purchase numerous vegetables and other produce, much of which is locally grown.
