Casper, Wyoming - A Small City with a Lot to Do

Casper, Wyoming is a great vacation destination packed with adventures that would surprise you. My favorite place to visit is the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center. You can feel what life was like for the settlers as they came to the area. You can sit and watch a program made with statues in period dress that talk and light up. A wagon will take you across a river and you can sit in a stage coach and feel what that was like. They also have a Holiday on the Homestead event that is free. Fort Casper Museum is a reconstructed fort that tells you what life was like in the fort. You can also learn about the pony express and the Indians. This museum costs $3 for adults and $2 for kids. It is only open April-October.

Historic Trails West is a place I have not been to yet but it is on my to do list. You can ride in a historic wagon that was actually on the Oregon Trail. You can also find out what it is like to sleep in an Indian lodge at this working ranch vacation. Basically you get to live like they did in the old west.

Hell's Half Acre is an actual site where bandits hid from the law. Now you can look at the beauty of the area. It is just a short distance from Casper on Hwy 20. Hell's Half Acre has a restaurant if you find you are hungry. Find out more at Hell's Half Acre.

Casper has a college that has a greenhouse open to the public. You can stop in and visit the campus and the greenhouse. The greenhouse has a cactus room that has a variety of cactus and even some turtles for you to see. They are open Monday-Friday 9am-noon for you to stop in for a visit. You can go to Casper College.

If you are the outdoor type you can find great fishing, canoeing and kayaking along the North Platte River. The river runs past the downtown area of Casper so it is close to town and full of adventure. Find out more at North Platte River.
