Bald Point State Park

Bald Point State Park is one of north Florida's most productive migratory birding routes in the state. A huge variety of south bound birds come this way each fall and stop for a rest along the beautiful shores and dense forests. With miles of undeveloped shoreline and over 4,000 acres of pristine wilderness, it's no wonder why wildlife thrives at this awesome Florida panhandle state park.

Located on Alligator Point along the Apalachee Bay and Ochlocknee Bay's meeting points, this area is full of land and water activities unparallel to any other place in the area. Coastal Marshes, oak thickets and pine flatwoods contain some of the most diverse wildlife in the area as well as great birding opportunities.

Besides the myriad of migrating birds that make their way to Central and South America each year like bald eagles and raptors, monarch butterflies are commonly seen heading south along the parks many acres and open beaches.

If you're not into so much watching birds as you are into catching fish, then you're in luck. These fishing grounds are very popular and lots of delicious fish are caught here each year. Surf fisherman do very well here as well as those who fish from the dock catching redfish, trout, mackerel and flounder. Wading out to the oyster bar is also a popular pastime here at Bald Point State Park.

Swimming here along the crystal clear blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico is a true treat. Seashells abound for the beachcomber and sunshine is plentiful for sunbathers as well. Miles of vacant coastlines allow you to pick out just the right spot for solitude of beach going. Swim at your own risk; there is no lifeguard on duty.

If you're not into water activities, hiking opportunities abound in this premier Florida state park. With miles of scenic trails, you're sure to find a hiking adventure for you. Whether it's along the shoreline or deep in the oak thickets that dominate this region, you're sure to get bit by a few bugs, so don't forget to bring plenty of insect repellent, sunscreen and drinking water.
