1. St. Louis Zoo
St. Louis boasts the third largest zoo in the country. Admission is free, although a few areas such as the Children's Zoo and Sea Lion shows will cost a few extra bucks. Check their website at stlzoo.org for special free events, such as summer Friday night concert series.

2. Laumeier Sculpture Park
Into art? Take a stroll around the ninety-six acre park while soaking in the massive contemporary collection of sculptures. Laumeier is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to sunset. Bring your camera and enjoy!
3. St. Louis Art Museum
According to their website, slam.org, the St. Louis Art Museum holds more than 30,000 pieces of art ranging from ancient Chinese bronzes, to Van Gogh, to modern American art. Admission is always free and here's a bonus: admission to the featured traveling exhibit is free to the public every Friday! Another little known fact: if you've got some hard-core art research to do, the museum offers an extensive library available to the public, free of charge! Check the website for library hours.

4. Forest Park
When you're done with Art Museum, take a walk through the beautiful Forest Park. Once home to the 1904 World's Fair, forest park is now one of the largest urban parks in the United States (even bigger than Central Park in New York City!) Pack a picnic for the day or take a bike ride around the park.
5. St. Louis Science Center
The Science Center is always a favorite with kids (and adults!). Play a laser harp, shoot a radar gun at passing cars as you walk over Interstate 64, or catch a free science demonstration. The Science Center offers hours of fun for kids of all ages. Check out slsc.org for more information.

St. Louis has many great sites to offer, even if you're a little short on cash. So load up the family and head out to one of these great places!
