Location
Sukhumvit On Nut Guesthouse is located in a quiet suburb near the On Nut BTS (Skytrain) station. It's on the end of the Skytrain line which means you will have to travel a bit to get to most tourist attractions, but you won't have to deal with any touts or scammers. I prefer staying in suburbs when I visit major cities, as it gives me a way to escape the hype of the tourist areas and see how the locals really live. I'm also a light sleeper, so the quieter the area the better.
On Nut BTS is located next to a huge shopping mall. This is convenient for travelers staying at Sukhumvit On Nut Guesthoust, because when you come and go from the BTS you can stop by the grocery section to pick up snacks, water, or anything else you need. Mall food courts are one of the cheapest options for delicious Thai food in Bangkok, and the food court near On Nut BTS will not disappoint you. You could eat there every day for a month and have something different.
Rooms
There are a variety of different rooms at different rates. I slept in an upper bunk in the 4-bed female dorm on the second floor. The rate for this bed is 219 Baht ($6.30). Lower bunks are wider and slightly more expensive at 237 Baht ($6.90). The cheapest bed is an upper bunk in the 8-bed Mixed (male and female) city view dorm for 169 Baht ($4.90). This room does not have air conditioning, but it does have a fan. The lower bunks are slightly more expensive. Sukhumvit On Nut Guesthouse also offers singles, doubles and triples. Bathrooms
Depending on your room, you will either have a shared or private bathroom. The shared bathrooms were large and very clean. Out of the three places I stayed in Bangkok, this was the only place that had hot water and a bathtub. What a treat after 14 days of cold showers!
Facilities
This guesthouse offers so many facilities that I won't even be able to list them all here. There is no curfew, and as the guesthouse is located near the airport there is always someone on call to arrange a taxi for you. They have a full service restaurant offering Thai, Japanese, Western, Vegetarian, Halal and Kosher food. There is also 24-hour room service. You can connect to their Wi-Fi for 99 baht ($2.80) per day, and you can also use their net café in the lobby. You can not do laundry on site, but you can send your laundry out and have it back on the same day. There is even a beauty salon on site that is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm so you can "become neat neat before you get back home!" Thai cooking classes are held each afternoon.
Service
The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and not only was the staff amiable, but the other guests were as well. After being in Bangkok for two weeks, this was the first guesthouse where I met other tourists that I actually enjoyed talking to. I had an early morning taxi and the front desk arranged it all for me without any hassle.
Conclusion
Out of the three places I stayed in Bangkok, I got my best night of sleep at Sukhumvit On Nut Guesthouse. I wasn't expecting to sleep well since I was staying in the 4-bed female dorm, but all the guests were very considerate and quiet. The laid back atmosphere, its location near the airport and a BTS stop, and the variety of services offered makes Sukhumvit On Nut Guesthouse a place that I would gladly stay again. Although it was a little more expensive than one of the other guesthouses I stayed at in Bangkok, the location, services offered and the hot water would be enough to make me choose Sukhumvit On Nut over cheaper options.
