Located along the banks of the Ochlockonee River and Dead Rivers meeting point, Ochlockonee River State Park is full of fun and exciting outdoor adventures fro the whole family. Fishing and boating are the primary attractions here, but hiking and wildlife viewing is a close second. Large mouth bass, the elusive and rare red-cockaded woodpecker and the unique white squirrel can all be found within the confines of the park.
Ochlockonee River State Park is a great place to canoe and kayak. These gentle flowing waters are perfect for fishing as well. Combine the two and you're in for a real treat. Since the Gulf of Mexico is just a few short miles down stream, freshwater and saltwater fish thrive in this estuarine river system. A boat ramp is available for launching canoes, kayaks and motor boats of all types.
Blue crabbing is a popular sport from the shoreline. All you need is a piece of chicken tied to a string and a dip net to catch them. Kids love to do this and it's so easy, you'll have a delicious treat for the whole family in no time flat. A Florida fishing license is required for all anglers over 16 years of age.
Swimming is available at designated areas, but there is no lifeguard on duty. Public showers are provided for day use when you're done swimming. Picnic tables are available for the perfect afternoon snacking site after a refreshing dip in the river.
After a long day of boating, swimming and fishing, you may just want to extend your stay and camp overnight. The full facility, 30 site campground ahs all of the amenities you'd expect at a Florida state park campground. Water and electric is available at all sites and RV's and tents are all welcome. A 40 feet maximum is allowed on RV's.
