Haunted Houses in Las Vegas, Denver, and Kansas City

Samhain, Halloween, or All Hallows Eve are a few of the names for one of the most popular holidays celebrated throughout America, Ireland and the British Isles. A holiday where the only gift you need to give will be sweet and wrapped in candy wrappers. Apples bobbing, goblins running, ghosts wailing, and pumpkins glowing bring the end to the months of harvest and the beginning of the dark half of the year...winter. At this time of death for the Earth's plants early Gaels believed the door between the world of the living and the dead was open and costumes were worn to either imitate those who returned or to protect from them.

Halloween, the day's most common name, is celebrated with great enthusiasm by those of every age. And as with all holidays there are always those who will make sure to provide the public with themed, scream inducing, fear filled entertainment. All across America this haunted holiday is in full swing. Hurry! You only have a couple days left to take advantage of some hair rising fun!

Las Vegas, Nevada

In the city of lights and gaudy entertainment you can only expect the spirits to rise up again for a little more fun. Las Vegas sets out to thrill and chill with haunted tours for all ages. Asylum and Hotel Fear is a completely themed attraction that will make you think the twisted story of Meadview Asylum and Hotel Fear is not only real but reaching out to pull you into the insanity. Located at the Cannery Hotel the show opens at 6:30 p.m. through October. For those who want a ghostly tour, the Las Vegas Haunted Ghost Tour might do the trick, visiting 21 sights where paranormal activity has been said to exist. Walk through Bugsy Seigel's secret garden and hunt down the spirits of Liberace and Redd Foxx. Tour starts at the Royal Resort at 9:30 p.m. from February through December.

Denver, Colorado

The Denver Zombie Crawl is sure to well...make your skin crawl. All good Zombies no matter age, size, or gender will gather at Skyline Park by 4:00 p.m. to start a parade through 16th Street Mall, downtown Denver. Costume contest, live music, and zombie defense demonstrations make this a great night to be a Zombie.

Voted one of America's Best Haunted Houses, the 13th Door is sure to haunt you even after you leave...if you can. Located at I-225 and Parker Road in a 30,000 foot building near King Soopers, the 13th Door is said to be one of the scariest haunts you will ever find. Also located in the same shopping center is The Curse of the Slaughterhouse Gulch, run by the same haunting company. Open Sunday through Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with tickets available at all King Soopers for one haunt event or up to five affiliated haunted houses in the Denver Metro area.

Kansas City, Missouri

Since 1991, The Beast, located at 1401 W 13th St, Kansas City, MO has been scaring the BBQ out of Kansas City natives. Werewolf forests, alligator filled swamps, mazes, and a four story slide to get you back to sanity, The Beast utilizes an open style where guests are not in line but wandering through different "scenes" while trying to find their way out. Not a good choice for those faint of heart or for young children. The actors know their business and will never break out of character, guaranteeing you a realistic fright. Open Friday and Saturday from August to September, Thursday through Sunday in October, and Friday and Saturday November 5-13th. Tickets are available on location or online.

If The Beast hasn't given you enough adrenalin for the holiday, head over to Macabre Cinema, a haunted 1930's theatre where you can become part of the most ghoulish movie scenes ever. Operated by Full Moon Productions who have been scaring the public to death since 1975, the Cinema is four floors of classic horror scenes even a dungeon if you dare.

No matter where you are for All Hallows Eve, you are sure to find ghosts and ghouls to hold you over until the next time the dead come back to visit. Corn Mazes, pumpkin patches, haunted houses and ghostly tours abound from small towns to big cities. Have a fun and safe Halloween holiday!
