FOLLOW THESE HOLIDAY TRAVEL TIPS FOR A MORE ENJOYABLE HOLIDAY

One thing that we all love in life is going on holiday.  Whether it is somewhere only a few miles away, or on the other side of the world, it brings us excitement and something to look forward to. Most people these days do tend to fly to their chosen destination as it is a quick and easy way to get to a lot of beautiful and hot locations. When we are preparing to go, we always think we are ready, but by the time we arrive at our destination we can feel like we have just been on an exhausting journey, so are there any holiday travel tips to make the traveling better?

Packing

• Never put any expensive items in your luggage that is going in the hold, it can get broken or go missing. Always keep it in your hand luggage so that you know where it is at all times.

• Look carefully at what you are packing and think about what you really need.  You can buy some clothes while you are there, and in most cases people do, so take a couple of days worth out.

Early Flights

• There is nothing worse than having to get up at 4am, and rush around trying to get to the airport for your 8am flight. One of the best holiday travel tips is to book into the airport hotel the night before and you will have more sleep and be less stressed for your flight.

Airport Security

• Before you even get near security, empty your pockets and take off anything metal that may set the scanner off, and put them in your hand luggage. This dramatically speeds up going through, and you do not have to mess around looking through pockets in the queue.

• To get through quicker, always make sure you take your laptop out of its bag, and put it in a tray on its own.

• Do not try and take any drinks through.

 Food

• Depending on your flight, you may have to purchase food onboard which is expensive, so once through security go and pick up some sandwiches and chocolate bars. Even if food is supplied on the plane, you may not like the choices so have a backup, but always bin it as soon as you land otherwise you may get into trouble at customs.

 Seats

• If you have been allocated seats already and the flight is full then you are usually stuck with that.  However, if it isn’t full then ask a member of staff if you can move. Aisle seats are better on long haul flights as you do not have to squeeze past people to get out.

Landing

• Once you have landed, do not try and sneak through customs if you do have food, it only takes a couple of minutes to stop and ask them if what you have is OK.  If it isn’t, they just bin it and let you go.  However, if you do not ask and you get stopped then you are likely to be fined and that stays on your record for a long time.

Following these holiday travel tips should help you have a better start to your holiday.
