Angela's Cafe: A Four Star Mexican Restaurant in Boston

Angela's Café is truly a Four star Mexican restaurant. I have to tell you that the only place I have had better Mexican food has been in Mexico. I know this is a strong statement but it is TRUE: Angela's Café is one of the best Mexican food restaurants I have been too.

You already know that I write mainly about medical and science articles. I travel quite a lot going to different national and local business and I like to mix business with pleasure. So whenever I go to any city I ask the "locals" about the best restaurants (whether Mexican, Italian, or else) to go. After I get the same recommendation from 3 different locals I go there and usually I am delighted.

This was the case with Angela's Café located in East Boston. Many people recommended it. Parking was not a problem since there was plenty on the street. The Angela's Café is located at 131 Lexington St. It opens Monday to Saturday 7:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. On Sunday they have a reduced schedule until 3:00 pm. I went twice there, once for breakfast by myself and once with a group of colleagues for dinner. Both times I had very good times. The restaurant is small (I do not think it can hold more than 25 people) but it has a very friendly atmosphere. The decoration is simple, but nice, no flashy things.

The day a went for dinner I had a special they were having that day. It was called Carne Asada (which translate to roasted beef). I have to tell you something: that Carne was huge!, so if you like to eat that's a good piece of meat to ask for. Imagine a New York strip steak perfectly marinated and cooked to the point where you like it. I had it with a side of something called Rajas con Crema. Rajas con crema is a feast for the taste buds. It consists of peppers (poblano I believe) and onions sauteed with a cream sauce which was truly unbelievable. Of course all this food was engulfed with plenty of home-made wheat flour tortillas. The friends that went with me that night had other different things and all them were wonderfully satisfied with their food at Angela's Café. We spent around $15.00 each which is cheap for a dinner in Boston.

You can see that I liked a lot that dinner so after a couple of days I went for breakfast there. This time I went alone at around 7:30 am. They were ready to serve me with a delicious Mexican traditional breakfast. (Again, let me say this: the other best place I had Mexican food has been in Mexico!). This time I had one of the best chilaquiles I have tried in the United States. They were really tasty and made my trip to the East side worthy.

So, if you are a Mexican food aficionado, like good small family run restaurants, and are in the Boston area do not miss Angela's Café. You will be delighted. By the way, the prices are great too. I believe food at Angela's Café is cheap for a big city like Boston.
