Disaster preparation is taken very seriously here. So make sure you are aware of the emergency evacuation points around the localities that you’ll be staying – including outside of hotels. Always follow the local authorities after a disaster.

Crime is on the rise in Japan, in particular, petty theft and credit card fraud as we have seen examples of here in Tokyo. So be alert to your own security at all times. Also remember that crime in relation to drugs is taken very seriously in Japan and there are some very stiff penalties. Also keep in mind that Japanese authorities can hold you in detention for up to 23 days on suspicion of any crime.

So, in short, prepare well; think about disaster preparation; make sure you are safe at all times take out comprehensive travel insurance and always obey local laws and customs and have a great trip to Japan.
